CORK’S LEADING ALTERNATIVE ROCKERS PALKO TO EMBARK ON EXTENSIVE IRISH TOUR

Following a hugely successful year in 2010, Palko are now revving up the fun bus for their first dates of 2011.  Kicking off their Irish tour upstairs in Roisin Dubh Galway on January 27 followed by a long list of dates to include Whelan’s Dublin, Bakers Place Limerick and what is sure to be a mammoth homecoming gig in Cork this March.

Palko created a stir at the end of last year when they released the single ‘You’re Wrong’ and made it available as a free download just before budget day.  This release is a “fine example of pure punk pop” but the lyrics are open to interpretation. When pressed on the issue of the timely release of ‘You’re Wrong’ Palko refused to be drawn on the matter with lead singer Terry O’Brien stating: “I never wanted to be in a band that was politically motivated… by leaving the lyrics to the listener’s interpretation I have the freedom to write about what ever I want. People can read into it what they will”.

Some members of Palko originally got together in 2004 but just over two years ago a reshuffle of members brought the current line-up of Terry O’Brien [vocals & guitar], Brian Leach [lead guitar], Mark Flavin [drums] and Barry ‘Tessy’ Quealy [bass] together to form Palko.

Palko cut their teeth gigging on the lively music scene in Cork city and county.  Following the release of their debut album Dreamers which was met with a multitude of positive reviews from both fans and music media alike, Palko decided it was time to jump the county bounds and hit the road.

‘You’re Wrong’ will be available next week from the band’s site as a free download

Are Palko sending a message to the current establishment with their latest single ‘You’re Wrong’? If so, there could not be a more appropriate time for the Cork act’s latest release from their debut album Dreamers.

‘You’re Wrong’ will be available from Monday, December 6 from www.palkotheband.com as a free download. The single will be available to Palko’s Facebook and MySpace friends from today, Friday.

Palko’s debut album Dreamers is available from HMV Cork, BMP Records Waterford and to download from iTunes.

There could not be a more appropriate time for Cork act Palko to release their next single You’re Wrong. The second single from their debut album ‘Dreamers’, You’re Wrong could be the soundtrack for the Ireland of 2010 opening with: “What you did well it don’t make sense”. You’re Wrong will be available from Monday December 6 from Palko’s website [www.palkotheband.com] as a free download to one and all. The single will be available to Palko’s Facebook and MySpace friends from Friday December 3.

Palko have played a long list of extraordinary gigs in 2010 and have already served up explosive performances at both Sunday Roast in The Mercantile and The Village Dublin, Roisin Dubh Galway and Bakers Place Limerick. Palko received widespread media attention and some stellar reviews following the release of their debut album Dreamers earlier in 2010.
